Thrush is an infection caused by a yeast germ called Candida. This infection can be caused among babies in their mouth or skin, or among women in the vagina, which is known as vaginal thrush. Most women experience this condition at some point of time. It is caused by no specific reason as such and normally isn’t a serious condition. Generally, Candida exists around the vaginal area in minute numbers, and mostly don’t cause problem as the other harmless bacteria. This is because the immune system restrains Candida from affecting the body. It is quite rare that Candida gets an opportunity to become active and affect the vagina. There may be discharge from the vagina due to thrush and some itching, burning, soreness and redness. Though it’s easy to get rid of thrush when the symptoms are minor, when it is a bit strong, it may need treatment in women as well as babies.
